The founder of A Brasileira do Chiado, Adriano Telles, was a cultured man. As such, the café has always been the backdrop for writers, artists, painters, and poets to gather, and a meeting point for friends. Today, as in the 1960s, painters António Carmo and Teresa Magalhães, jeweller Alberto Gordillo, and sculptor Virgílio Domingues still meet every morning at A Brasileira, inviting other friends into their group or discussing among themselves the current state of the arts, in great company: a good cup of A Brasileira coffee.
